About Me

Colin Cramphorn

I am registered as an adult counsellor with the BACP, one of the main regulating bodies for the profession in the UK. BACP counsellors first complete a two-year certificate in counselling, followed by a two-year post graduate clinical training, before first achieving registration. I am committed to continuing my professional development and as such I regularly attend training events and workshops.

I hold a BACP accredited, Post-Graduate Diploma in Contemporary Therapeutic Counselling, which I gained at the University of Hertfordshire. My main training is as a psychodynamic counsellor, so I will work with you on being able to gain insight into how the past has shaped who you are, and on how you can now begin to shape your present and your future. However, I draw upon techniques and practices from various different models of psychotherapy, so that the approach, and the pace at which we work together, can be tailored to your individual issues and needs.

I believe that the integration of my life experience, inside and outside of my work, my various training, and my experience as a counsellor, enables me to create a secure and welcoming space where counselling can take place in confidence and with respect. I have particular experience and interest in working with: anxiety and depression; stress; trauma; self-esteem; self-confidence; bereavement, and loss; masculinity and men’s issues; and identity issues.

I am trained and experienced in working with male and female clients (adolescents and adults), on either a short or long term basis and my experience encompasses a wide range of emotional difficulties and issues, from different social and cultural backgrounds. I also work as a Counsellor within the highly respected Counselling team at the Letchworth Centre for Healthy Living.

I’m a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists: www.bacp.co.uk) and adhere to the BACP ethical framework – this can be viewed by clicking this link (and includes detail on principles around confidentiality): http://www.bacp.co.uk/ethical_framework/
